On June 21, the Mass Media Foundation hosted a meeting of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation, Nozima Davletova, and its Director, Akramjon Fozilov, with the Senior Advisor on Geographical Issues of the Office of the Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Ms. Lara Scarpitta, and the Advisor on European Legislation, Mr. -joy Elmay Bavcic.

“Violence must be severely punished. And in this regard, Uzbekistan has made a huge step forward by adopting a new law to protect women and minors,” said Ms. Scarpitta.
“The state, by passing the new law, has sent a clear message that it is fighting violence against women. Now this needs to be demonstrated in practice,” noted the Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, Nozima Davletova.
The parties discussed how to ensure that the adopted law works in full, and the role of the media in achieving this goal.
