Today, a training session for journalists and bloggers on the responsible coverage of HIV and AIDS in the media took place in Tashkent.

The event was organised by the Mass Media Foundation in collaboration with the country office of the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) in Uzbekistan and the Republican AIDS Center.

The training emphasised that accurate and thoughtful reporting on HIV-related topics can not only inform the public but also help reduce prejudice and social stigma towards people living with HIV. This, in turn, contributes to improving their quality of life.

As part of the session, individuals living with HIV shared their personal stories, highlighting that HIV is not a death sentence but a manageable condition that does not prevent leading a full and meaningful life or achieving one’s goals. Participants were also introduced to a rapid test that can detect HIV within just 15 minutes.
